ABOUT US OUR HISTORY

Limerick Football Club has been at the heart of the city’s sporting identity for more than eight decades. Founded in 1937, the club has represented Limerick at the highest level of Irish football, winning two League of Ireland titles, two FAI Cups, three League Cups, and competing in six European campaigns. Through every era, the club’s commitment to the game, the city, and its young players has never changed.

Today, that tradition continues through the Limerick United Training Academy (LUTA) — the home of elite youth development in the region. Our academy provides a modern, professional training environment built around core values: hard work, discipline, community, and opportunity.

At LUTA, we develop players for club, county, and international football. Our coaching pathways support boys and girls aged from foundation level through to National League, ensuring every player receives high-quality training, structured progression, and the mindset needed to succeed on and off the pitch.

The academy’s programmes combine technical development, tactical understanding, strength and conditioning, and sports education — all delivered by experienced coaches dedicated to bringing the best out of every player. Our facilities, including the Limerick United Training Centre (LUTC), reflect our goal to provide an environment that inspires ambition, learning, and excellence.

Limerick football has always been built on pride, passion, and resilience. LUTA carries that legacy forward, shaping the next generation of players while strengthening the connection between the club and the community it represents.

LUTA — Built on History. Focused on the Future.
Where Limerick’s next football story begins.
